Dear friends…we are now Relaay. It is with excitement, joy, and a healthy dose of fear that we come to you with this announcement about our band. At the start of the pandemic when live music disappeared from our lives and the world as we knew it changed, we found it difficult to create through the stress and sadness we all felt. It was tough. Through some personal turmoil, growth, and liberation, we have reached a place where we are ready to take our music to a brand-new place. Over a year ago, we entered the studio to begin making a new album. This recording process and the music coming from it differ from our previous musical endeavors in so many ways. One thing has remained at the forefront – the music is the guiding force. Every decision has been based on what is best for the music and what feels true to us. It is exciting and totally new, yet more familiar than anything we’ve ever created.
We (Audrey and Amanda) have been friends since we were kids, and in many lyrical and sonic themes of this music, we’ve struck a lightness that feels nostalgic. We feel lighter, brighter, and truer in this new musical life. Relaay is a word that is a nod to our nearly lifelong friendship and the joy of creating freely.
Bridge 19 is a project that brought us so much happiness and introduced us to many of you. Over the last decade, we have found ourselves in places and on stages we never thought were possible. We are forever grateful for those experiences and for your love of the music. We couldn’t be doing what we are doing now without the support you’ve given us over all these years. For us, this is not starting over or leaving something behind. It is transformation, evolution, and growth. We are beginning a new phase, taking a risk, and investing in ourselves more than ever.
